Our Approach

ENCOT Foundation’s work is built on partnership, networking, relationship building, and the creation of independent subsidiaries.

The financial inclusion theme is implemented by independent subsidiaries wholly owned by the Foundation. Currently, the only microfinance subsidiary, ENCOT Microfinance Ltd, operates in Uganda. Plans are underway to set up similar subsidiaries in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), South Sudan, Rwanda, and Burundi. These subsidiaries are managed by independent boards appointed by the Foundation and approved by the respective authorities. The microfinance programs follow strict social protection and sustainability principles, allowing them to meet the needs of the poor responsibly and sustainably.

For non-microfinance interventions, the Foundation collaborates with local communities in Uganda to set achievable goals. The local communities are actively involved in all decisions regarding the Foundation’s work, ensuring that our interventions are culturally sensitive and in alignment with the community's values.

Our work is primarily funded by our operations and grants from local and international agencies, as well as government partnerships. To maintain high standards of accountability, ENCOT Foundation monitors all projects through periodic reviews, reports, and personal visits to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in program delivery.
