Our Background

Inspired by a life changing research activity, ENCOT Foundation Limited (ENCOT) was founded in 2006 by a group of indigenous community development practitioners and researchers in Masindi District – Uganda as a response to the challenges of poverty in rural communities of Masindi most especially farmers.

ENCOT was at the onset in 2006, registered as a CBO with Masindi District Local Government (MDLG) known as Enterprise Support and Community Development Trust (ENCOT) but in 2021, the name and status of registration was changed by a Board Resolution to ENCOT Foundation Limited (EFL) and incorporated at URSB as a Company Limited by Guarantee/Not for Profit development organization operating in Uganda

Our goal is to support the rights and needs of poor people in Ugandan communities. Over the past few years, we have become one of the most trusted and effective Ugandan non-profits, as we are guided by Our Philosopher of – “Opportunity Unlimited”.

Our Primary focus as ENCOT Foundation is to improve the livelihood and resilience of rural small and medium holder famers and micro- entrepreneurs for increased productivity and income. This is accomplished through direct technical foundation support, and by multiplying our efforts through key partnerships and our interventions. We will increase access to inclusive financial services that leaves no one behind, access to recommended farming inputs, accessible affordable farming technology, employable soft skills for youth, smart climate environmental practices, value chain services, price management and markets for sustainable food security and household income generation and economic development of rural communities.
